2007 SCTR SPRING NEWS LETTER 2006 was a big year for the SeaCoast Trail Riders club. We’ve grown quite a bit in that time and accomplished even more with our first ever SCTR Noble Enduro. A new record of attendance was set at the Noble Turkey Run of 280 riders along with the 120 riders joining us for the Noble Enduro giving us a whopping 400 riders for the Noble Woods weekend. It wasn’t that long ago that the Classic reached the 400 rider mark, so we have something to be proud of as a club to have achieved it in such a short time. None of this could have been possible without all the effort and hard work of our members. Hat’s off to all of you for a job well done! In December of 2006 it was off to the NETRA sanction meeting where we sanctioned three events for 2007! The SeaCoast Winter Scramble is now in the history books as one of the best winter NETRA events ever. 207 brave souls came out to race and just as many folks came to cheer them on. We had a lot of very positive feedback from the riders. Many thanks are owed to all our club members who worked to pull the event together in such a short amount of time. Incredible job on our first hare scramble, especially considering it was in the snow! August will be a busy month for us with the Noble Woods Enduro and Turkey Run happening again on the 11th and 12th. Lot’s of help will be needed and we’re already beginning to organize work parties and event teams. Please come to the meetings and check your e-mail or the website for news and how to get involved. WE NEED YOU! Membership
Reminder: April is our official membership renewal month. Please check your membership status on your card or give us a shout if you’re not sure. We hope everyone will renew their membership with the club as we value every one of our members. If you have renewed your membership and have not received your new membership card, please let me know and I will remedy the situation. E-mail president@seacoasttrailriders.org with any questions or issues you have. Thanks in advance for your help. Monthly Meetings:
Our meeting night has been changed from the traditional 2nd Wednesday night of the month to the 2nd Thursday night of the month. This was done to accommodate the good folks at Motorbikes Plus, our host. The website has the meeting date posted every month on the main page. www.seacoasttrailriders.org. Website: Speaking of the website, it’s been up and running on the new hosting companies server for a couple of months now and seems to be working very well. I hope you like the changes I’ve made and I hope to be able to add more as time permits. Please send me anything you’d like to see on the web site and I’d be happy to put it in. E-mail to webmaster@seacoasttrailriders.org. Extra stuff:
We are going to have two family day club rides this year with the kids
and would like your input on it. The dates are Sunday, June 24th and
Sunday, August 26th. E-mail or call the trail boss, JD Mott for more info. trailboss@seacoasttrailriders.org,
603-765-8094 We now have a Magellan GPS to use
for trail routing and development for our events. I’ve been able to use it a
bit and it’s quite an amazing little unit, very accurate and it should prove
to be a very useful tool to the club. Thanks to Peter Anania for obtaining it
for the club.
The club is actively looking for a box trailer to house the “stuff”
that we now own. We have been collecting a fair amount of event items like
banners, arrows, tables, grade stakes, etc, and it will be handy to be able to
keep it in one storage container on wheels. If anyone has info on some good used
trailers that they’ve come across, please pass it on. E-mail seacoast@seacoasttrailriders.org
with anything you might find. At the May meeting the club voted to join ATVMaine. This is the state association for all OHRV clubs in Maine. There was much debate on the subject and the logical conclusion to everyone present was that the club needed to get involved with ATVMaine. Our clubs activities are focused in Maine, so it makes sense for us to lend support to the clubs in Maine in the political arena. SCTR’s efforts in this will be in helping to open and maintain legal riding areas in conjunction with the many ATV clubs in southern Maine. These folks have been very generous and helpful to us recently and the general feeling is that we should make this effort to “give back” to our sport. Week night rides will be happening this summer on Wednesday’s alternating between Fremont and Gonic NH. Contact the trail boss, JD Mott, for info on the schedule. E-mail trailboss@seacoasttrailriders.org or call 603-765-8094. John Smyrnos has taken over the Kids Classic from Kevin & Pat Bretton. He is currently looking for folks to help out with the event. Please call or e-mail him if you’d like to join in the fun and give him a hand. jsmyrnos@comcast.net, 603-373-0330, 603-957-1670 That’s all the news for now folks. I’ll see you on the trails. Bernie Brown President SeaCoast Trail Riders.
